Deck Washdown pump

HI Nicholas
I’m just responding to your last comment about installing a wash down pump. I wanted to bring this clever piece of hardware to your attention, which I used on a retrofit of my ‘other’ Hinterhoeller boat (not the Nonsuch). This is a through-deck fitting with a removable spigot. From Newfound Metals.

I teed off the toilet seawater thru-hull to the washdown pump and ran the hose through the bilge and then into a conduit up to the deck adjacent a bulkhead. I located this fitting about midships on the cabin top so the hose to the spray head needs only to be about half the length of the boat to get to anywhere on deck or cockpit. This pic shows a straight plastic spigot, but there was an optional angled one which is what I used (so the hose gets aimed more parallel to the deck to avoid kinking the hose).

Here’s the link to the vendor’s web page: Deck Washdown Archives - New Found Metals

I purchased a Jabsco ParMax 4 washdown pump kit that came with a 20’ coiled hose and spray head, and I am very happy with this set up.

That is exactly what I have and I’m been quite happy with it for the past 15 years. Nothing to trip over and it’s very handy. Pump is in the head under the sink.
