How to search old messages?

I’m embarrassed and sorry to say that I’ve spent very little time checking out this new Discourse site. I’ll try and remedy it.

It was my understanding that there were three objectives. Please correct me if I am wrong.

  1. Interactive messaging such as with the Google Group, but possibly with additional functionality.
  2. Improved access to previously discussed topics - both from the Google Group and eventually from here.
  3. Some sort of AI assistance or queries.

Right now I’m curious about number 2. I have a question and I remember that someone mentioned the answer a year or so ago. I could go search the Google Group for it, but it seems like a good time to try it out on Discourse if that capability has been implemented? Is it possible and how do I do it?

Thanks.

OH! And another vital question: do we have to include our boat name and location and so on here, too?

Brian,
In Discourse your account profile is the place to add a photo, name, and about me. You get to it by clicking on the icon in the upper right of the screen.

Once in it there will be some tabs. The ones relevant to your question are :

  1. Account - For your thumbnail photo and your screen name ( which is different from your user name, also in this tab )
  2. Profile - where you can add additional info about your boat or self. The first part of your profile will appear under your screen name.
